I have a question concerning the future of DECmcc for Utltrix. When MCC for OSF/1 is available, will we still support MCC for Ultrix, and if we do, for how long and what type of support. Alcatel, who is OEM'ing MCC in their NMC product is concerned about our cut-offs in different development projects on the Ultrix platform. They want to know what happens with their existing Ultrix-customers, when we move to OSF/1. Some of their prospects are waiting for the OSF/1 release, for the rumours of not getting continuously support on Ultrix. Bjrn Olav Haugom

Basically, there will be limited new releases on Ultrix. Support, however, for Mcc (POLYCENTER FRAMEWORK/200) on Ultrix will continue after the availability of the POLYCENTER products on Alpha OSF/1, just as for support for older versions after new versions are released. We intend to offer aggressive license upgrades to AOSF/1 IF they've already purchased POLYCENTER Framework/200 on Ultrix. Plans won't be published for serveral months from now, however - so don't send mail - I'll post it here once it's been finalized. Gail Ferreira Product Manager |
