5248.0. "recording failures" by CGOOA::KUHNEN () Wed Jun 23 1993 14:14

I am recording SNMP interface data using the default intervals for each
partition. I find that occassionally the recording will have stopped
for an interface without any indication that there is a problem.

When I do a show record for that interface and partition it will come
back and indicate recording is active but the last record will have
been some time in the past and there is not any error indication.

I have set up recording in two domains to keep the number of processes
required to a minimum and registered all the entities which I am
recording in these domains. The recording seems to stop on a number
of entities in the domain at approximately the same time. And the
last successfull poll and the last historical expiration time are the
same. However this time is two days in the past.

Is there some method to ensure that recording is active and functioning
on all entities without stopping and restarting recording on a daily
    basis ?

Are there limits as to the number of entities that can be recorded by
the background processes or are there quotas that should be adjusted
for these processes to handle a large number of record requests?

    Thanks

What operating system are using: VMS or Ultrix?
What is a version of MCC?

Can you do a Show for a partition whose recording is not working?
How many active recordings you have in both domains?

500 recordings per he background process.

The operating system is VMS 5.5-1 and MCC 1.3.

I will post the results of a show partition after the next failure.

In one domain I am recording all partitions using the default times on
55 interfaces. So this should be 220 recordings in total. Well under
    the limit.

In the second domain I am recording on 15 interface using the default
times. This again is well under the limit.

The interfaces are SNMP interfaces and I am using version 1.3A because
    I had problems with V2.0.

    Thanks

5248.3Same problem with exportingADO75A::BOUCHERMon Jul 12 1993 20:1910
    Hi.

I am having the same problem, but with exporting, not recording.

The error message that I get is that the background process is not set
up, however the process appears to be quite happily working.

I am using the same config. (VMS 5-5.1 and DECmcc V1.3.0)
