Is there a mechanism in place to receive SNMP traps and forward them to another target node? -Dan

This is a requirement for a future product - but is not available now. bill

In order to forward a trap, the SNMP AM will have to receive it first and regenerate it. Thus the management station will also have to act as an agent (a concept not uncommon in SNMP V2.0). Couldn't you configure the SNMP agent to send traps to multiple destinations? (Your requirements are probably more complex, I guess). Rahul.

Rahul, As we discussed earlier, there may be a possibility of porting the CMU trap generator to VMS; however, it is more likely that my customer will opt for a SUN configured with two Ethernet controllers and capturing/forwarding traps using a modified CMU trap generator. Wish we had this capability now. -Thanks, Dan |
