Hi, I have a quick question about snmp traps. At the moment decmcc will allow you to trap on any event ie linkup, coldstart etc for the snmp global entity. However, if you want to look at the trap at the child entity level ie interface 1 decmcc doesn't let you. The most Decmcc will allow you to trap on is ANY EVENT. Will this be changed in a future release. Bipin.

While one of the engineers might be able to help here, the right place for futures requests is NOTED::EMF_REQ. | |||||

Unless you've added something to the dictionary definition of SNMP INTERFACE sublcass, there's no GETEVENT directive defined it. This makes it impossible to construct a NOTIFY request for a specifc event (hell, *any* event) from, say. "SNMP mcdoug.tay.dec.com Interface 2". Given that limitation of the implementation of the MIB II model, I'm actually *surprised* that the Iconic Map even allows you to even create a notification request for SNMP * INTERFACE * for Any Event. They must be doing something clever with Notfication Services to 'fake this out'. Maybe someone will shed some light on how this event works this much... /doug |
