5175.0. "< MCC and change of the namespace nickname >" by BRSTR1::MERTENS (yves) Thu Jun 10 1993 08:22
Hi,
I have a customer with the following situation :
He has 2 servers ,on each server one clearinghouse (one clearinghouse
with all read only replica's and the other one all master replica's).
This are servers based on DNS V1.1 .On one of his servers the MCC
application is running.
The company decided to change the namespace nickname !! This
means create a new namespace with the new namespace nickname based on
V2.0 server ,this will give me the possibilitie to execute the dump
and merge commands .
My question is the following what will happen with the mcc application
,will it still work ? Have I to define the mcc_dns_root logical to
point to the new namespace.I detected also that the MIR files
of the alarming have hard coded in the files the old namespace
nickname. Are there other things I have to keep in mind ?
I need some extra inputs before doing this .
Greetings,
Yves
Note: The namespace nickname has to be changed !!

| From the MCC side, some things that might help are:
Use the MCC_DUMP_NS command file in MCC_COMMON to dump the instance store.
He can edit the resulting file to remove the namespace name.
Use the MCC_MOVE_MAPS file to fix up the mapfile names (due to new UIDs
in the new namespace).
Use the MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE from sys$system to dump the
rules to an MCC script. Edit the result as needed.
There may be discussion of some of these in the mcc-tools conference.
