| Verna,
To answer you mail message, this is on a VMS V5.5-2 system using a DNS
V1.1 repository. EMS V2.3 (i.e., MCC V1.3.0, etc.).
This is a really strange problem. Can you suggest some debug logicals
that can be defined to provide more information?
-Thanks,
Dan

| Verna,
(use valid addresses)
Try this: | |
V |
MCC> REGISTER SNMP .ip.RM SYNONYM RM ADDRESS x.x.x.x V
MCC> REGISTER TERM .RSG.mcc.tsrv.DECDS1 ADDRESS 08-00-2B-xx-xx-xx
Bring up the Iconic Map. Add these two entities to the map.
Try to "Find..." RM and you will get the terminal server.

| Dan,
The Find algorithm searches on the entire class-instance string, not just the
last instance, so it is finding RM as follows:
TERM .RSG.mcc.tsrv.DECS1 ADDRESS 08-00-2B-xx-xx-xx
--
If your find string is .RM, then the SNMP entity should be found and selected.
Hope this helps,
Verna

| Hi, Verna,
You are indeed correct, but entering ".rm" did not result in a find. I
had to type in ".ip.rm" in order to bypass the "TERM" of the terminal
server entity.
This is not very intuitive, but we can work around it.
One thing that does not seem to work as expected is the "Find..."
function in the Notification Window. When clicking the "Find..."
button, an entirely new domain window pops up. It should allow me to
find an entity in the domain that I have currently active. Not good.
