5153.0. "Again READ-ONLY users (with v1.3)...." by MLNCSC::BARILARO () Mon Jun 07 1993 08:25

    Hi,

    	I read and wrote some topics about having READ-ONLY users on
    	MCC that couldn't delete entities from MCC (maps and dbase) and
    	DNS. With MCC v1.2 it was a nightmare, so my question is:
    	Is it possible with MCC v1.3 have this functions?? Is it
    	possible for example to disabilitate for defined users the
    	padlock, so it will be impossible for these users to modify
    	maps and delete entities.

    	For the moment I'm not interested in disabling the SET and
    	RESET etc.etc. command to avoid to modify the characteristics
    	of the entities.

    	Thanks in advance, and sorry if perhaps this argument was already
    	developped in other topics, I was unable to find it.

    					Ciao	Luciano Barilaro

5153.1Edit lock/unlock map in v1.3TOOK::LEMMONTue Jun 08 1993 11:408
The map now is displayed in a locked state when it is initially
opened. Users can navigate and perform operations on selected
entities. Modifying the contents of the map is disabled. This includes
adding, deleting, and dragging icons.

The padlock is an accelerator for the edit lock/unlock menu entry.

5153.2Is it possible to disable the padlock ???MLNCSC::BARILAROWed Jun 09 1993 04:2612
    Hi Jim,

    	I don't understand from your reply if it is possible to disable
    	for determinate users the modification of the maps ( and the
    	modification, deleting and so on of the entities.

    	I had a look for example in the MCC_RESOURCE.DAT but I wasn't
    	able to find any reference to the padlock.

    					Thanks in advance for your help

The lock/unlock map is only under user control. The iconic map doesn't
have a mechanism that allows an administrator to specify which users
can/cannot edit the map.
