Hi, I need some information about experiences with SNMP management of Fibronics UNIMUX V hubs with NM892.126 (SNMP Proxy agent card). I don't know a lot of Fibronics products but I need to manage a set of hubs from a DECmcc V1.3 station. Is it possible full configuration capabilities of hub modules ? Can I show all the information on hub modules? Is it reliable? What MIB files do I need to load in the mcc dictionary? Thanks in advance for any help. Francisco Rejn DS/NS Spain.

Hi Francisco, the information you can get from the hub solely depends on what is defined in the Fibronics MIB. If they only have defined, say, software version, you only can get the software version of the hub. The same is true for modifications (e.g. some MIBs only allow a SHOW, not a SET). Depending on the quality of the DECmcc and hub installation, the management solu- tion should be stable :-). Again, this depends largely on the quality of the MIB definition and agent implementation in the hub. For a copy of the MIB, try to kick Fibronics :-) or do a $ dir mcc_common:mcc*mibdef.txt. If you find a Fibronics MIB, load it and see. Kind regards Josch |
