Hi, We have a potential customer with ICL computers running OSI as network operating system. We pretend customize some customer requirements using the collector and scripts, but we have some doubts, as following: 1) Can we use a collector on machine without DECnet or TCP/IP? 1.1) If yes which parameter must be specified on transport? 2) Can we create a script in way to run it remotely? 2.1) If yes give us some clews. 3) Other ways of integration OSI computers with DECmcc. Thanks in advance for your time and cooperation Regards jorge

> 1) Can we use a collector on machine without DECnet or TCP/IP? > 1.1) If yes which parameter must be specified on transport? The Data Collector currently supports DECnet Phase IV and UDP/IP. It does not support an OSI transport. > 2) Can we create a script in way to run it remotely? > 2.1) If yes give us some clews. The script AM executes scripts on the local system. However, you might be able to use "rsh" (assuming ULTRIX?) to execute on a remote system. > 3) Other ways of integration OSI computers with DECmcc. If you are speaking of DECnet/OSI, the you could use the DECnet/OSI AM. If you are looking for a pure OSI AM, then the work is not yet complete. -- Erik

Erik, Thanks for your answers, but I need some more details. > The Data Collector currently supports DECnet Phase IV and UDP/IP. > It does not support an OSI transport. 1) When will data collector available in way to support an OSI transport? > The script AM executes scripts on the local system. However, you might > be able to use "rsh" (assuming ULTRIX?) to execute on a remote system. 2) In my particular case the customer has not rsh because their systems are pure OSI. So I reformulate the question: Can we create a script in way to run it remotely on pure OSI system? Thanks again for your time and cooperation Best regards Jorge

I would suggest that you add your requirement for the data collector to the NOTED::EMF_REQ notes conference. That's the conference that our product management uses for futures. DECmcc does not provide a mechanism for remote script execution. The script AM relies on whatever facilites the native system provides. If pure OSI has no mechanism for remote script execution, then this is going to be a difficult problem to solve. -- Erik |
