5097.1 | SCRIPT AM is part of POLYCENTER Framework. | MOLAR::MOLAR::BRIENEN | Network Management Applications! | Thu May 20 1993 11:23 | 0 |
5097.2 | Is it part of Framework? | OSLACT::BJORN | Bjrn Olav Haugom | Tue Jun 29 1993 11:26 | 6 |
| Are you sure it's included in the Framework?
I can't see from the Networking Catalogue Spring Summer'93 that it's included.
On Page 70 it's mentioned as being part of POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 200.

5097.3 | It's not mentioned in the SPD | OSLACT::BJORN | Bjrn Olav Haugom | Wed Jun 30 1993 06:55 | 4 |
| In the POLYCENTER Framework SPD it's not mentioned that SCRIPT AM is part of the
product. In the POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 200 it is.

5097.4 | You're both right -- PNM200 has it | TOOK::CAREY | | Wed Jun 30 1993 09:16 | 27 |

The POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 200 corresponds roughly to the old
DECmcc Director kit. I'm going to cross-check this with our business
people because I may be confused between what we call our products and
what we produce.
While I work to produce the POLYCENTER Framework, I believe that what
we ship as the minimum Developer's Framework is two things:
- POLYCENTER Framework Developer's Kit, and
- POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 200
The first is the DECmcc toolkit, the second is the minimum DECmcc
Director. Internally, the SCRIPT AM is considered part of our
Framework because it is an integral building block of DECmcc and a very
flexible extensibility tool. Externally, you see it as part of the
PNM200 product.
So I think that both answers are correct from different perspectives:
the SCRIPT AM is part of PNM200 and PNM400, and is internally
considered a "framework" component because it is intrinsically an
extensibility tool.
Sorry for the confusion.

5097.5 | It's in the MCCDIR013 savesets | OSLACT::BJORN | Bjrn Olav Haugom | Thu Jul 01 1993 07:07 | 39 |

That's NOT right. The POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 200 corresponds to DECmcc BMS,
NOT the DECmcc Director. See the SPD's.

Wrong! The old DECmcc Director is called POLYCENTER Framework in the SPD.

Right, it's documented in the SPD for the PNM 200 product, but NOT in the PF.

You could get more confused after this, but NOW I've checked the savsets on the
May CD, and in the MCCDIR013.% savesets you'll find SCRIPT_AM.EXE, so you
definitely get it in the POLYCENTER FRAMEWORK.

5097.6 | What is it we work on? | TOOK::CAREY | | Tue Jul 06 1993 10:06 | 14 |
|
My apologies Bjorn,
Geesh, we have so many kits and change the names so often, I don't know
WHAT I'm working on any more.
Our business manager has crosschecked, and the SCRIPT AM should be part
of the POLYCENTER Framework. Since it missed the SPD we are getting it
confirmed directly with the kit to make sure it is in.
More news later.

5097.7 | Not there under Ultrix | MQOSWS::F_MONETTE | Montreal Sales Support | Tue Jul 06 1993 13:31 | 23 |
| I did some research and here the results:
- The SCRIPT AM is included with Polycenter Framework but
only under VMS. I checked on the latest CD (June 93) and
it's not there under ULTRIX ( strange !! same SPD)
- The COLLETOR AM is included witk POLYCENTER Framework
Notification Option but only under VMS. I checked under
ULTRIX (version 1.2A - V1.3 not there yet) and found
that the dictionary has the Collector class registred
but not the COLLECTOR AM image, sink and source code.
Is it a problem because this is causing me a lot of
problems at the customer site when you think that a least
you should have it's in the SPD.
Any help !!!
regards,
Francois

5097.8 | When will this be corrected? | OSLACT::BJORN | Bjrn Olav Haugom | Tue Aug 17 1993 07:26 | 5 |
| When will the SCRIPT AM and the COLLECTOR AM be part of the Ultrix distribution?
In what version will this be done, and what is the timeframe for this version?
Don't forget to change the SPD for VMS, too.
