5087.0. "LTM As Launched Appl?" by TRIGG::TRIGG::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217) Tue May 18 1993 18:57
Has anyone ever tried running LTM as a launched application from MCC V1.3?
It seems like it should work with out any hitches, but when I tried setting
this up for a cuatomer, they found out that LTM as a launched appl and canned
scripts for disk utilization are mutually exclusive - you can run one, but not
the other.
When LTM is running a a launched application and you try to do a SHOW
operation on one of the scripts a message comes back to the extent that no
data was collected. If you shut down LTM properly (i.e., stop listener from
the menu) then the scripts work o.k. When you try to bring LTM back up from
the launched appl a message occurs to the extent that the applicaiton is
assigned a mailbox and must be stopped and started as a spawned process. It
is then necessary to take down MCC and bring it back up in order to run LTM.
Any one have hany ideas why this may be happening?
I plan on going on-site on Thurs or Fri to get a better idea what's going
on, but I would like any insight that someone else may have.
Thanks.
Merlin

5087.1 | More Info on .0 | TRIGG::TRIGG::CLAYTON | Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217 | Thu May 20 1993 16:35 | 33 |
| I spent the morning on-site with the customer to try to get more info
on the problem reported in .0.
The various scenarios are as follows:
1. Bring up LTM from DECterm window and run MCC scripts from ICMP
Scripts and LTM work together o.k.
2. Launch LTM from MCC:
- LTM works O.K.
- Memory script "Show Status" results in the message "The script has
produced no output" message.
- Disk script "Show Status" results in same message as above.
3. Stop LTM from LTM menu (7=Exit LTM) and close window:
- Disk script works o.k.
- Memory script works o.k.
4. Try to re-start LTM as launched application the following message
immediately appears in "Polycenter Message" window:
"Terminal has associated mailbox - terminate image then spawn"
The customer is running the canned scripts for memory and disk use that
comes out of the box with EMS V2.3 on VMS 5.5-2.
I have no idea what's going on (but what's new).
Can some one please shed some light on this for me so I can get back to the
customer with some kind of an answer?
Thanks.
