5029.0. "Is there a digital_ultrix_mibdef ??" by COPCLU::MARTIN (Martin Rnde Andersen, DTN 857-3611) Mon May 10 1993 11:36

    Hello ..

    I am a bit of a novice in the mcc area, and I have the following
    question.

    Background - If I sit on a decmcc station and I want to get the output
    equivalent of "df" from a HP_ux, I need the hpxxx_mibdef.txt.

    Question -

    Is it possible to get the equivalent "flat" ascii file to
    use on a HP Open-view station, to see the "df" on a ultrix with the
    snmpd running.

    Do I need anything more on the vanilla Ultrix 4.3 ?

    I know that when I have a DECMCC station I have the mcc_df and the
    other stuff like:

mcc_df                          mcc_script_am_srvc_if.com
mcc_ls                          mcc_script_df_srvc_if.ms
mcc_mail                        mcc_script_ls_srvc_if.ms
mcc_mailcount                   mcc_script_mail_srvc_if.ms
mcc_mailstat                    mcc_script_mailstat_srvc_if.ms
mcc_ps                          mcc_script_ps_srvc_if.ms
mcc_script_am_directives.ms     mcc_script_vmstat_srvc_if.ms
mcc_script_am_mgmt_if.com       mcc_vmstat
csh> pwd
/usr/mcc/mcc_system/mcc_scripts

    The customer asking knows that the things like this may be copyrighted
    by DIGITAL, but both he and I would like to know.

    Thanks and Regards

5029.1Need agent supportTOOK::MINTZErik Pavlik MintzMon May 10 1993 17:3312
I suspect (but hope that someone more knowledgable will correct me)
that mcc_df is present for use by the script AM, not through SNMP.
In order to be able to access system information through an SNMP MIB,
the SNMP agent present on the system would need to support that system
information. As far as I know, the vanilla ULTRIX SNMP agent does
not support any such MIB extensions.

The DECmcc script AM allows collection of additional information
through the execution of scripts on the local system. However, that
function would not be available on the HP system.

5029.2Here is a guessFARMS::LYONSAhh, but fortunately, I have the key to escape reality.Mon May 10 1993 19:185
The POLLYCENTER Common Agent for Ultrix has a sample "df" mom that goes out
the kit (not sure if its the developers kit or the runtime kit).
That would allow anyone (as the mib is included) to get that information
from any snmp manager.
