5001.0. "DECmcc and ELN" by DGOSW0::GUESDON () Wed May 05 1993 04:07

My customer is using many RTVAX systems running ELN, and user written
applications in ADA. Are there tools to manage such systems with
DECmcc? This customer will not choose DECmcc if he can't integrate his
    ELN systems in his management.

    Thanks.

    Michel.

O.K. ! It was not a good question...

    Thanks.

5001.2Management of ELN system depends on what customer wantsCUJO::HILLDan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer ResidentThu May 27 1993 18:5819
    Michel,

What does your customer want to manage?

If they are satisfied to manage the Ethernet controller only, then
you can register the ELN node using the STATION AM.

If they want more, then you must have an agent on the node and the
proper transport software to send you data. For example, if you
used SNMP, you must have an SNMP agent running on the ELN system
and transport software (UDP of TCP/IP) to get packets to you.

You have another alternative. You can have another node communicating
with the ELN system (probably the best way). This node can then ship
info to DECmcc via the use of an agent mentioned above. If this
"other" node is VMS or Ultrix, you can use the SCRIPT AM or the DATA
COLLECTOR AM to send events to the MCC node.
