4959.0. "V1.3 toolkit documentation updated ?" by SMAC10::BARKER_E (Ummm...) Tue Apr 27 1993 10:26

    Hi,

    	In case other people go looking for 1.3 toolkit documentation ...

    	I'm supporting a customer whose writing a number of AM and FM's on
    DECmcc, ULTRIX platform, also running TeMIP. We've recently upgraded them
    to mcc V1.3 BMS and Toolkit. They started hitting problems with some of
    the mcc routines, in particular some of the mcc_desframe ones. Note
    4500 sorted that out but points to a more general problem in that the
    toolkit documentation has not been updated from V1.2 to V1.3. I don't
    want to go over the top and realise that whoever's reading this may be
    suffering as much/more than we are but we simply can't work and support
    a product this way. With the updated and new features that are included
    we must have some form of documentation and support for the customer.
    Without it they start hitting problems that impact us in the field,
    frustrate, annoy and impact their business and generally do Digital and
    DECmcc no favours at all. Fielding questions from customers that you
    can only answer/fobb them off with 'it hasn't been done', 'those
    features are available but undocumented' etc. etc. is not fun.!

    When are we likely to see updated documentation for the DECmcc toolkit
    V1.3 ? Can anyone point me in the right direction to who makes the
    decisions on this ? Is anyone else suffering from this ?

    	Thanks,

    	Euan

You probably want to post .0 or a note similar in NOTED::EMF_REQ. That
is the notes file that the product management and marketing people read.

They are responsible ()along with cusotmers) for generating product
requirements and priorities of same.

.-1 is good advise. However, I have also forwarded this comment
to the documentation lead.

4959.3Toolkit docs are updatedTNPUBS::GOVONITue Apr 27 1993 19:1820
    Hi,

    I'm the MCC V1.3 documentation project leader. We have updated the
    toolkit documentation to V1.3. You can access the postscript files
    from:

    	tnpubs::public$disk:[PUBLIC.NMS.DECMCC_V1_3]

    The files are:

    	MGMT_MODULE_PROGRAMMING_FINAL.PS
    	DEV_TOOLKIT_REF_FINAL.PS

    If your customer has purchased a V1.3 toolkit, he or she should have
    the V1.3 documentation. Please let me know directly if this is not the
    case. My e-mail address is TNPUBS::GOVONI. Sending me mail directly
    will ensure a faster response time.

    Regards,
    bob
