4953.0. "PC LANSERVER Networks in Token Ring" by TIMABC::JOSEI () Mon Apr 26 1993 13:00
Hello,
I don't find any information in this conference on managing
an IBM LANSERVER PC network in TOKEN RING.
We are in a r.f.p. for an important european company.
The customer is 'downsizing' the systems and until now they were
managing the PC network from the LANSERVER itself and they had also
the capability of doing that from NETVIEW. Now the IBM is gone and
they want to centralize the management in a management station.
Our competitor is SUN NET-MANAGER. Customer says from the SUN station,
they can make 'some' management of NETBIOS in the Server (OS/2).
Other things to manage are CISCO boxes, DECnet nodes, Unix nodes but
no problem there ...
I know we have a way to manage NOVELL networks, using a common agent
but what can we do in the IBM LANSERVER environment ?.
In general, anyone could explain what is our estrategy managing
PC LAN networks ?
Thanks by your interest,
Jose Ignacio.
