If there are two DECmcc users on a DECmcc BMS Station and Local MIR is used, can each user has their private MIR data? That is, User A will only see his register entities and User B will only see his register entities. If it is impossible to have their private MIR, then how can the security be set up so that User A won't be able to access User B's entities and vice versa? The above can be setup when using DECdns. There is really lack of documentation on MIR Usage and setup. Thanks, Susan

The idea of the local MIR instance repository is to provide something simple when you don't really need the complexity or functionality of NDS (network-wide consistency, access control, replication, etc). We don't need to reinvent a wheel by putting ACLs into the MIR. It is possible for two users to run separate MIRs via various environmental variables etc (discussed in various places in this conference, maybe someone can point to it), but it is not really intended for a production environment, and not really for the purpose you have in mind. (For example if you wanted to move an entity from one MIR to another it would be very difficult). |
