4901.0. "Phase IV/V events sinked to Phase V MCC system?" by LICAUS::LICAUSE (Al Licause (264-4780)) Fri Apr 16 1993 15:29

I'll offer $10 American to the first person that gets the combination of
Phase IV and Phase V systems, both routers and end nodes to successfully
sink their events and have them reported to a Phase V end system running
DECmcc V1.3.......on ULTRIX!

Just kidding about the $10, but if anyone has gotten this to work, I'd be
very interested in using NCL to see your setup.

Just to fend off the folks that give such wonderful advice like "read the
release notes....." and others......please understand that I had read
the release notes, over and over and over again, both with and w/o my
glasses.

Please don't respond unless you've actually gotten this combination to work
and are willing to let others observe your settings.

Any combination of MIR and/or DNS both private and DEC: would be of interest.

Just to make this interesting, the combination being used is that the remote
end systems and routers are registered in the DEC:. name space and know
their names as such. The end system running DECmcc is also registered in
the DEC:. namespace, but is using a private namespace for DECmcc by means of
the MCC_DNS_ROOT environment variable.

This later combination is probably the way many installations on the Easynet
may end up running so it is valid if it works at all.
