situation : snmp management via mcc should be provided for cabletron mmac's (mmac-3, mmac-4, mmac-5 with IRM2 /IRBM) since the loading of mibs takes a long time, I'd like to be sure to load only the necessary mibs. MCCEMS023 includes the following Cabletron MIB's CABLETRON_BRIDGE_MIBDEF.TXT CABLETRON_CHASS_MIBDEF.TXT CABLETRON_COMMN_MIBDEF.TXT CABLETRON_IRM3_MIBDEF.TXT CABLETRON_RREV4_MIBDEF.TXT I loaded all above mibs, but this was not sufficient to see a cabletron subentity after registering an mmac, although the mcc-dictionary showd me a lot of cabletron subentities. After explicitly registering cabletron subentities for the MMAC I still was unable to touch any "private" argument. (The standard MIB's arguments were accessible). _______________________________________________________________________________ a previous MCC - Version provided : CABLETRON_MIBDEF.TXT on a Cabletron floppy I found : CTRONMIB DOC 101089 7-03-91 3:05p A VER1-2 MIB 98582 1-17-92 10:35a A CABLETRO 33927 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-BR 26374 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-CH 20930 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-CO 48577 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-IR 82901 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-OI 13691 1-15-93 11:03a A CTRON-RR 80621 1-15-93 11:03a A XYPMIB DOC 49003 7-03-91 3:07p A CTSMTMIB TXT 18308 2-26-93 4:57p A CHASSIS TXT 3935 2-18-93 9:36a A COMMON TXT 34358 2-18-93 9:32a A CTBRIDGE TXT 22497 2-18-93 9:34a A CTRN-BDG TXT 38153 2-18-93 9:36a A CTRN-OID TXT 21149 2-18-93 9:33a A DRFT-DLM TXT 13407 2-18-93 9:35a A RFC1271 TXT 188651 2-18-93 9:40a A RREV2-MI TXT 72305 2-18-93 9:37a A RREV4-MI TXT 104868 2-18-93 9:36a A TRAP-MIB TXT 4464 2-18-93 9:35a A CTSMTMIB BAK 18308 2-26-93 4:57p A question to someone knowledgeable : which of them are actually needed ? or how can I find the answer to the above question ? am I probaby missing something else ? thanks in advance, Richard

4898.1 | Cabletron agent has had problems in the past | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Sun Apr 18 1993 19:56 | 9 |
Be aware that the Cabletron agent has had problems in the past. The version that I am using is unusable by SUNnetManager, HPOpenview, NetLabs, and DECmcc. We are in the process of trying to get a new version of the agent. Doublecheck with Cabletron to be sure you have the latest before banging your head against the wall. -Dan.
4898.2 | mma's already managed by HPopenview | VNABRW::HAINZL_R | Mon Apr 19 1993 12:15 | 6
I forgot to mention in .0, that the MMAC-s are already managed by HPOpenview. Does that mean, all I have to do, is to use the same MIBS as HP ?? I hope the question isn't too naiv, regards Richard
4898.3 | You got it! | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Tue Apr 20 1993 00:04 | 6 |
Simply run the MIB text file through the MCC_COMMON:MCC_TCPIP_MTU.COM MIB Translation Utility, then re-register the Cabletron SNMP entity. You can FTP the MIB text file from your HP system. -Dan |
