4884.0. "Ethernet station wildcard problem" by EEMELI::KINNARI () Thu Apr 15 1993 05:18
Hi,
I think I have seen my problem in this conference but can't find it
anymore ...
I'm using Ultrix DECmcc v1.2.3 and Ultrix v4.2 rev 96.
I have registered 10 ethernet stations (term. servers and PCs).
If I define 10 separate alarm rules everything works ok.
But if I define 1 wildcard alarm rule for those stations, something
strange happens:
If I create rule it tests stations correctly (for example 5 up and
5 down).
Now if I disable and enable rule I can see 10 exceptions and error
message is something like "Error transmiting packet". And messages
appears within few seconds in notification window. It seems to be
that for some reason Ultrix system can't send packets to stations ?!?
And after few moments rule might work properly again.
Rgds,
