4875.1 | check for icon files | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | | Tue Apr 13 1993 19:37 | 13 |
| Hi Al,
It looks like you have the right subsets installed.
Do an
ls -l /usr/mcc/mcc_system/*bridge*.dat
ls -l /usr/mcc/mcc_system/*conc*.dat
to see if you have the bridge and concentrator icons on the system.
Thanks,
-Bob

| Unrelated question, but why are (some of) the icons marked as executable?
|
4875.4 | More info. please | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | | Wed Apr 14 1993 19:19 | 22 |
| Al,
It looks like all of the icons are in the proper place.
Do the Bridge and Conc. AMs work from FCL? This looks like it
could be a problem with the dictionary. I think this is where the
IMPM looks to determine which modules are available.
Post the following:
#manage
mcc>test mcc 0 bridge_am
mcc>test mcc 0 conc_am
#mcc_dap
dap>show class bridge
dap>show class concentrator
Thanks,
Bob

4875.8 | Looks like dictionary was not updated | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | | Thu Apr 15 1993 11:46 | 14 |
| Al,
It looks like the dictionary didn't get updated during the installation
process. My suspicion is that there were MCC processes still runnning
during that install so the dictionary was opened for read-only and
thus couldn't be updated.
I suggest re-installing the ELU subsets, but make sure you kill all
MCC processes running on the system before you start. Also, save the
log from the installation in case you run into more problems.
Regards,
Bob

4875.9 | Dictionnary is not loaded... | TOSKI::HAYES | | Thu Apr 15 1993 12:06 | 41 |
|
Al,
Yes your dictionnary is empty concerning bridge and
concentrator.
I had the same problem installing TeMIP on to of DECmcc.
Your dictionnary is opened in read-only access here
because you still have decmcc processes running
%ps -aux | grep mcc
What you need to do now is :
1) locate the dictionnary files to load
look in the instctrl directory to find where
the kitinstall procedure has copied the following files
usual name if bridge is the access module
mcc_bridge_am_srvc_if.com to load the service part
mcc_bridge_am_mgmt_if.com to load the self-management part
2) kill all mcc processes
su
mcc_kill ALL
3) go to the directory where you located the
.com files
mcc_dap> verify opened in read-write
mcc_dap> load class bridge from mcc_bridge_am_srvc.com
mcc_dap> load class mcc subclass bridge_am from mcc_bridge_am_mgmt.com
mcc_dap> exit
idem for concentrator
Good luck
Catherine

4875.10 | I don't recommend the short cut in .9 | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | | Thu Apr 15 1993 14:52 | 7 |
| .9 will work, but it may be easier for you to just delete the
ELU subsets and re-install. If you want to use the short cut
suggested in .9 then make sure you load all of the ELM componets
in the dictionary (bridge, bridge PA, conc, FDDI AM, FDDI FM, STM FM
and LAN PM). Then you will have to enroll the modules.

4875.11 | one more thing | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | | Thu Apr 15 1993 14:55 | 4 |
| ...Also make sure that you kill all MCC processes running on the
system before doing the installation.

4875.12 | Works great after reinstall! | LICAUS::LICAUSE | Al Licause (264-4780) | Thu Apr 15 1993 16:49 | 9 |
| Thanks to the serious respondents!!!
I removed all MCC processes and reinstalled from scratch and now
all icons show up and all works as expected.
Case closed.
