4854.0. "Can't change icon .... V1.3 ULTRIX" by LICAUS::LICAUSE (Al Licause (264-4780)) Fri Apr 09 1993 16:14

Under what circumstances would the ICMP not allow a user to change an icon?

I've just installed V1.3 SSB on ULTRIX and have noticed that for many of my
domains, the maps did not copy correctly between systems. I suspect some of
this may be due to child entities not being reachable or registerable on the
new system. but in any case, I've decided to re-make the maps by hand.

Yes...the map is unlocked!

In some subdomains the icons show up as default icons, but none of the lines
are shown.

In one case I was able to change two of the collector icons, but then I was
unable to change any other icons.

Some of the icons remaining to be changed include DOMAINS and NODES.

I can dive into both the domains and the nodes so they do exist.

Also, for what other reasons would the maps not show all details.

Interestingly, if I open another map window and open one of these subdomains
directly I do get all of the lines and icons. Does this have something to
do with mismatches between what is in the database and the map files?

Also, I've tried this with both MIR and DNS and the results are similar.

Any help appreciated.

The change icon requires you to mb3 over the icon which you
    want to change.

The map file is built using the domain name. On opening the
domain the domain name typed in is used. On lookinto the domain
name stored in the map file is used. Apparently the domain
was created on ultrix in lowercase and the map file, copied
from vms, had the domain in uppercase.

The map file forthe domain being opened/lookinto was in lower case,
hence the open worked (typed in lowercase) and the lookinto failed
    (used uppercase).
