4840.0. "MCC Specialized exception :2" by ADO75A::BOUCHER () Wed Apr 07 1993 20:21

    Greetings,

    I am running V1.2.3 in a network that is predominately SNMP, and am
    having trouble with exporting.

    I am exporting on cisco routers with the following command:

    	EXPORT SNMP RGCEDU1 INTERFACE * BEGIN TIME 12:00, -
    	EXPORT PERIOD 00:30:00, IN DOMAIN ROUTER_NET, BY PASSWORD xxxx

    This has been sucessful in starting, and in fact has continued, but
    when I do a report it tells me that only 6 out of 30 polls were
    sucessful. When I go and look at the status of the exporting job it
    tells me that the last failed poll reason is:

    	"MCC SPECIALIZED EXCEPTION : 2" ,

    Can someone tell me what this means, and how to get around it ?

    System parameters:

    VAXstation 4000 Model 60
    48Mb RAM
    VMS V5.5-2
    DECmcc V1.2.3

    Help is appreciated.

Hi,

>> Can someone tell me what this means

$ MAN/TOOL/DICTIONARY
  SHOW CLASS SNMP DIRECTIVE SHOW EXCEPTION CODE 2 -
  DEFINITION REPLY_TEXT

The command above translates the exception code into text

"Internet communications device error !<InetDevError>"

I have also seen this error when exporting and alarming on SNMP entites.
I am exporting on 60 SNMP interface's with an export period of 15 minutes and
have approx 300 alarm rules running with an average period of 15 minutes.

    VAXstation 4000 Model 90
    128Mb RAM
    VMS V5.5-2
    DECmcc V1.2.3
    UCX 2.0

    Help is appreciated
