4811.0. "TSAM Bookreader problem" by COMICS::REYNOLDSJ (Mad Dogs and Englishmen) Fri Apr 02 1993 11:44

    Hello,

there seems to be a problem with the following DecMCC
documentation on Bookreader (called up in Motif):

[DECW$BOOK]DS39TAA25.DECW$BOOK;1 JAN 93 (Terminal Server Access Module Use)

opening this book generates the error:

    'Error opening book'
'Reason: Error reading field in record'

Any ideas on this error or where/who to report this to?

    thanks,

             John Reynolds, UK CSC, Comms.

    Hi John,

I am the V1.3 documentation project leader. Erik Mintz informed me of
    your problem.

First of all, I confirmed your problem. I'm at a loss to explain how
that happened. I'm guessing that the bookreader file was corrupted
when it was copied over to CDROM, but I could be wrong.

We have the original bookreader file, and that works fine. We will
submit the file again for the April VMS disk.

Thanks for letting us know about the problem. If you would like the
TSAM bookreader file, it is located in:

    tnpubs::public$disk:[public.nms.decmcc_v1_2.bookreader]

And, of course, Bookreader is going away. I saw an announcement that
it was zero-funded and there will be no more releases.

I hope something replaces it. I have personally found that browsing
the on-line documentation was the fastest way to plough through a setup
    problem.

I am getting the same error described in .0 (Error reading field in record)
when trying to access the TSAM Use book from the July Bookreader CD.
