4782.1 | Availble from Novell | GADWAL::WOESTEMEYER | Why??...Why not!!! | Tue Mar 30 1993 14:45 | 13 |
| Mic,
There is no Novell Mib extentions packaged with DECmcc. However, I am
working with a customer who got mib definitions from Novell. We are
having problems returning some of the information from the Novell
agent, which is why I am working on it. In my opinion it is not an MCC
problem that we are fighting but a Novell problem. I say this because
the same attributes that cannot be gotten from the Novell agent are
availble from a Cisco box. The problem is with MIB II not Novells
private extentions, at least so far.

4782.2 | Novell uses a proxy agent | ANNECY::HAGENMULLER | EIC Annecy - dtn 7887.41.99 | Wed Mar 31 1993 02:51 | 6 |
| novell provides a SNMP manager and a proxy agent to manager all their stuff.
By compiling the proxy agent's MIB in DECmcc you should be able to manage
file and print servers, ...
Yet I don't know if the novell's proxy agent implementation has bugs in it.

The mib mentioned in .4 defines all the traps that the Novell SNMP
agent sends back. The traps reference variables which are not even
defined in the mib, hence you get the MTU errors. This particular
mib probably works in conjunction with another mib which I haven't
been able to locate yet.
However, if you need the Novell Netware Server mib, you can find
a copy at MOLAR::YAHEY_USER:[BOSE.PUBLIC]NOVELL_NETSVR_MIBDEF.TXT.
I have verified that it translates cleanly through MTU.
Rahul.
