| I've installed this in a demo environment and it is pretty straight forward.
In fact it was running on the demo system on the OPEN/net....give me a call
for further details. Since this system will be replace soon, there won't be
much additional work to upgrade.
The manufacturer, Technically Elite Concepts is located in Hermosa Beach, Ca.
The sales contact is Jake Magarity and can be reached at 1-800-659-6975.
Ask for Jake and he can give you details on the system requirements....their
not included in the glossies.
In my experience, it is a fairly small AM and doesn't place much if any load
on the system with regard to additional parameters.
TE also has a demo tape that you can use to install on a running DECmcc system.
It contains a background process that is used to simulate a network pod.

| First you have to understand that there are two products
Network Professor - network monitoring system generates
multi-segment traffic statistics
DECmcc NET/Pod AM - Access Module that plugs into DECmcc
The Network Professor is a sofisticated, standalone application that can
be launched by DECmcc. It uses the NET/Pod devices as listeners to
gather the raw data that are the basis for its statistics. One Network
Professor per network, one NET/Pod per segment.
The DECmcc NET/Pod AM allows the user to manage the pod device, i.e.,
change its operating characteristics, and to generate and display a some
LAN statistics.
TEC will eventually create an FM which will give the user the Network
Professor functions from MCC, but not yet. Contact Jake Magarity (as
suggested in .-1) for info on release dates for new versions of the
Network Professor and any associated AMs and FMs.
The Network Professor requires VAX/VMS V5.5-2. The CPU power is uVAX II
and above (no uVAX I or VAXstation 2000, no UNIBUS devices). The
application requires MOTIF, so make sure you have sufficient memory.
The Network Professor has a pretty extensive set of required SYSGEN and
process quota requirements. I don't have them on-line, but if you send
me your FAX number I can FAX them to you. I can also send a copy
through interoffice mail if the need is not urgent.
The DECmcc NET/Pod AM runs with DECmcc and so you need a sufficient
configuration to run MCC. The only additional SYSGEN requirements that
the AM has is DEFMBXBUFQUO >= 6400, DEFMBXMXMSG >= 1600.
