Hi, A customer of ours has a problem managing a DS200, some time ago he registered it without apparent problem, now when he try to have some infos from it (via FCL or Iconic Map) the process goes in HIB state and he couldn't retake control of it. I tried to restart the TSAM, deregister the terminal server, register it again (without success...), to register it like a Ethernet station (still without success), BUT I'm able to connect to it via NCP or TSM without problem. I tried to see if there are differences between this DS200 (name DSVSIP) and another (name DSVSP1) that I'm able to manage with MCC, but I find only little ,and IMHO, non important differences (circuit timer and Keepalive Timer). Has anyone ideas about this problem??? Here there are the log file of the batches that tried (from yesterday!!) to register this DS200 like Terminal Server and Ethernet Station, I run it via batch because I'm connect remotly and whant to check in what state the process go (HIB state), the SDA output of of one of this batch and the result of the connection via NCP. Thanks in advance for helps, Ciao Luciano Barilaro ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Log file (still running from yesterday 19:00) of the batch that's trying to register it like a Terminal Server: ______________________________________ $ IF F$MODE() .NES. 4666.1 | Something similiar | ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR | Thu Mar 11 1993 04:46 | 11
Hello, We have here something similiar. We have registered more than 20 TS of different types. We had no problems. But now we cant access them to show or set the attributes. I deregistered one without problem but I'm not able to register it again. The window (register or show) is just hanging arround. No error- message, nothing. I have no further investigations done till now. Are there any known problems arround this behaviour? Regards Roland
4666.2 | Something you might want to try | SPANKY::SAWYER | Thu Mar 11 1993 13:18 | 21
Hi, I had a similar problem at a customer site...some terminal_servers would register and some wouldn't. The syntax I was using was Register terminal_server .ts.xxxx addr xxxxxxxx,type xxxxx I beat my head in trying to get the others to fully register... then I changed the syntax to: Register terminal_server NAMESPACE:.ts.xxxx .....bla bla bla and it worked...I have no idea why...but it worked. I never figured out why some registered without the namespace specification and some only registered with it specified...they were even the same model of terminal server... This is something you might want to try...as far fetched as it seems. Rob
4666.3 | Now didn't work nothing..... | MLNCSC::BARILARO | Fri Mar 12 1993 11:54 | 29
Hi, The problem doesn't seem anymore related to a single Terminal Server, but more on the full TSAM. Now (I mean today, yesterday was different...), I'm unable to connect to a terminal server that yesterday worked (for es. MCC> SHOW TERMINAL .SERVER.DSVSP1 ALL CHAR), the process goes in HIB state. After I restarted the TS_AM server process I was able to register the terminal server that yesterday I was unable to (and yesterday I tried many times, please believe me....). For a while I was able to show characteristics from all the servers, but on the second show the process again hanged around... I create a command file that run MCC and make a command like "show terminal * type", I started it at 12, the first time worked, now he's still in HIB state. I also try the Rob's solution, using the complete DNS name, it didn't work. So, for the engineering's people, is there a QAR on this problem ? Or is it possible to open one ? The customer in question want an answer, I could manage it for a while, not for ever.... Thanks in advance for any help, Ciao Luciano Barilaro
4666.4 | agree with Luciano | ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR | Mon Mar 15 1993 07:50 | 7
Hello, Luciano is right. It's important for us to solve the problem, too. Luciano is not the only one with this problem. Thanks for your help Roland
4666.5 | With TSAM v1.0-2 works.... | MLNCSC::BARILARO | Thu Mar 18 1993 03:32 | 9
Hi, I installed the TSAM v1.02 to my customer and now the problem seems disappearing, at least for the moment. I saw topic from other people that had installed the same patch kit and has still the problem, so I don't feel completly confident. Ciao from a day by day more confuse Luciano |
