| I would say, It depends...
Is it a customer site?
Are there many SNMP entities registered?
Are there many alarm rules defined?
You can apply V1.3 to a V1.1 system but you must perform several
upgrade tasks. Please read the V1.3 release notes well in advance
of the installation. In V1.2 there were changes to SNMP entities.
In V1.3 there are additional changes. One is that the entitiy
instance names for SNMP entities change so you need to plan in
advance what the new "registered names" will be. It doesn't change
the internet name though.
I would save all my alarm rules with the
SYS$SYSTEM:MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE
program and copy the resulting file to a safe place.
I would save my instance store (on general principles) using the
MCC_DUMP_NS.COM
procedure. This does come on the V1.3 kit but you can get it over the
network at
NETS::USER$NETS:[DECMCC.S-KIT]MCC_DUMP_NS.COM
You may want to study the resulting file to see if it got everything.
Is the system configuration sufficient? V1.2 and V1.3 have the same
requirements and they are more than what was needed for V1.1.
