4616.0. "ELM am to BRIDGE MIB; any crossreference docs?" by BRAT::BUKOWSKI () Fri Feb 26 1993 16:11

    Would somebody get me started here? I am trying to manage my DECbridge
    6xx's via the SNMP (mcc v1.2) access module instead of the dying ELM
    am. Even with the BRIDGE_STD_MIBDEF.TXT printed in front of me, I can
    not figure out how to do simple commands.

    What do I type or click on to show the equivelant to the ELM am
    commands:

    SHOW BRIDGE .MKO.BR.MYBRIDGE FORWARDING DATABASE DYNAMIC ENTRY *
    OUTBOUND PORT

    SHOW BRIDGE .MKO.BR.MYBRIDGE FORWARDING DATABASE DYNAMIC ENTRY
    AA-00-04-00-FC-0C ALL CHARACTERISTICS

    I may be a good idea to have somebody put together a simple cross-
    reference manual from ELM am commands to SNMP bridge MIB commands.
    I know they do not relate in many ways, but there are cheat sheets
    for things like VMS to Ultrix equivalents, so why not for AM's and
    MIBs?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Mike,

	From the bridge MIB (RFC 1286) -

	mcc> show snmp instance DOT1DBRIDGE DOT1DTP DOT1DTPFDBTABLE * -
		dot1dTpFdbPort

   > SHOW BRIDGE .MKO.BR.MYBRIDGE FORWARDING DATABASE DYNAMIC ENTRY
   >     AA-00-04-00-FC-0C ALL CHARACTERISTICS
   >
	mcc> show snmp instance DOT1DBRIDGE DOT1DTP DOT1DTPFDBTABLE  -
		AA-00-04-00-FC-0C all attributes

    You may want to load the DEC Vendor MIB (DEC_ELAN20_MIBDEF.TXT) which
    adds lots of objects that are available in DEC's bridges.

4616.2Attribute not availableMKOTS4::BUKOWSKIMon Mar 01 1993 17:5720
    Hi Bill,

    	Thanks for the info. BTW: I do have the ELAN MIB installed.

    	I gave those commands a try and didn't get very far. Why isn't
        this attribute available?

    Mike

    show snmp mko1h1brh101 dot1dbridge dot1dtp DOT1DTPFDBTABLE * all
    character

    SNMP mko1h1brh101 dot1dBridge dot1dTp dot1dTpFdbTable *
    AT  1-MAR-1993 16:16:44 Characteristics

    Examination of attributes shows:
                             dot1dTpFdbPort = -- Attribute Not Available

    Just want to let you folks out there know. I called Bill, and
    we discovered why the attribute were not available. My bridges
    are running firmware version 3.0. Hence; I need to use the
    experimental bridge MIB. BTW: I also had to change the format
    of the address within the command line from AA-00-04-00-FC-0C to
    %XAA000400FC0C.

    Thanks Bill.

4616.4How can I set ?WELLIN::MCCALLUMWed Nov 03 1993 06:4910

    I am trying to add a new entry in the table, I have tried changing
    this around to make it a set but the system won't take it.

    Is it possible to add new entries from snmp ? If so how would I do it ?

    Thanks,

    Dave McCallum
