4596.0. "Autoconfig-Error contacting Seed Node" by 42536::MACLEAN (A Pure Dear In a Wicked World) Wed Feb 24 1993 12:20

    Hi,

My Customer has just upgraded to EMS 2.2 from the January CD
(version 1.2-1 on MAN/ENT) and is having a problem running
AUTOCONFIGURATION ....His node is an Area Router , and he is
choosing the 'All Decnet Phase IV Nodes option'..He selected
his own node as the start node, he then got 'starting data
collection' followed by 'error contacting seed node , pick a
new seed node, error, data collection failed' ...Decnet is up
and running and he can loop happily to other nodes...we have
tried a number of other Start Points and these have also
    failed with the same error....

Can anyone suggest what else could cause the Autoconfig. to
    fail with this error?...

    Thanks,

    Sandie.../Comms

The Problem was due to The NCP> NML Object having a .com
with invalid logic and also due to the password against
the account not matching in Authorize and also a few
    additional account setup issues ....

Hello Sandie:

Glad to know that your customer's problem has been resolved. Just for your
interest, the 'error contacting seed node, pick a new seed node ...' message is
due to the failure in executing "NCP> tell seed_node sho exec" in Autoconfig.
                                          (e.g. 4.160)

I hope this helps explaining the problem too.

Regards,
JoAnn
