Hello, I have the July 1992 release of MCC V1.2 and I found that I must have the following MIBs in order to manage my new box. MIB-II (RFC-1213) BRIDGE MIB (RFC-1286) FDDI MIB (RFC-1285) DEC ELAN VENDOR MIB V2.7 1. How do validate compliance of my MIB's? 2. Where/How do I get these MIB's? 3. How do I install these MIB's? 4. Where do I get documentation to explain the MIB parameters?

hello, the differents MIBs you are asking for are provided with the DECmcc kit (on ULTRIX for example they are located in /usr/mcc/mcc_system, do a "ls *.txt" in this directory) To load the mcc dictionnary with these definitions, use the mtu (mib translator utility) utility you can find in the same directory (refer to the TCPIP_AM documentation to get a detail of the commands). The MIBs are generally self-ducumented, ie each object description contains a comment which explain its rationale : you will probably need to read the file more than one time to get a good understanding ... You may also refer to some other notes in this conference which deal with the mtu utility or the different MIBs provided with the kit (try dir/tit=mib). regards, Christophe |
