I didn't succeed to register a PC DOS with PATHWORKS (DECNET) FOR DOS V4.1 in DECMCC. Previously, i loaded NML as a TSR and after i could use: NCP TELL "PCnode" command to do remote management function in the PC. I saw that when i ask to register the PC, 2 DECNET links exist between the PC and the DECMCC station. Does anyone try/succeed in registering PC/DECNET in DECMCC ? Thanks for the answers. Regards, Bernard

4579.2 | Be sure to UNLOAD NML to save your memory. | CUJO::HILL | Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident | Thu Feb 25 1993 01:00 | 16 |
NML takes up about 25K of 640K memory, if my memory servers me. Your PC users might get a bit upset if you keep NML loaded. Once registered, type NML/U from the DOS prompt to unload NML. Now, once the node is registered, you can set up a DECnet remote sink on a router node in the same area as the PCs. You can monitor DECnet events via the routers and sink them to the MCC station. By assigning targets, you can then have the PC icons change color. Without a TSR (Terminate and Stay Resident) agent, such as NML, on the PC, you can't get much more than that. By the way, you can register the PC using the STATION AM. -Dan

RE .3 Are you sure the 4.2 is needed ? I knew the 4.1a was sufficient, is it not true ? Livia
4579.5 | 4.1A is ok | HADRES::KRAUSE | European NewProductEngineer for MCC | Mon Mar 08 1993 04:46 | 4 |
4.1A included the fix and therefore is sufficient. But 4.2 is the latest and greatest... *Robert

Yes i agree. The customer used PATHWORKS V4.1. We did the 4.1A upgrade and now it is working. Bye |
