4552.0. "Reports from exported data" by GOTA1::ANDERSSONB () Tue Feb 16 1993 12:07

			Hi !

	I'm preparing for a DECmcc proposal, for a System that
	will Manage a network of TV&Radio Transmitting Stations.

	The idea is to develop an AM that will;
		- send commands
		- receive events
	till/from the Station network and then use the functionallity
	included in DECmcc.

	My question is about the export & report facilities in
	DECmcc. The customer will generate statistics/reports of
	collected events.

	1. Suppose the AM is working properly and the DECmcc system have
	recived events from the AM. Can I use the included Exporter utility
	for exporting the data/events collected by my own AM ? Restrictions
	when having an own developed AM ?

	2. Can I use the Reporter utility on the collected data or do I need
	to have INGRES BASE TOOLS ?

	Regards,
	Bertil

4552.1Export is generic; reports are notTOOK::MINTZErik MintzTue Feb 16 1993 12:259
The exporter is a generic module, which means it will provide the
same features for your AM as it does for any other AM.

The sample reports that are included with DECmcc for ULTRIX require
the presense of the Ingres tools. The reports are not generic (and in
any case are example); you would need to customize a report for your data.

4552.2Is ULTRIX/SQL included ?GOTA1::ANDERSSONBWed Feb 17 1993 02:3613
	Thanks Erik !

	That confirmed my thoughts.

	BTW, since ULTRIX V4.3 you don't get ULTRIX/SQL with the OS. I
	have information telling me that ULTRIX/SQL now is shipped with
	some of ours DEC products, and DECmcc should be one of those products.
	Do you, or anyone else, know if ULTRIX/SQL is shipped together with
	DECmcc ?

	Regards,
	Bertil

      It will be no problem to export attributes but not events.
      Exporter FM is able to export only information returned by Show command.

      Also, please, note that Exporter FM does not handle constructed data
      types.

It is my understanding that SQL will be packaged with DECmcc starting
with the (immanent) release of DECmcc BMS V1.3 (Polycenter 200).
