4531.0. "FDDI-STATION & Bridge AM questions" by GADWAL::WOESTEMEYER (Why??...Why not!!!) Thu Feb 11 1993 13:30

Several interesting questions posed by a customer this morning:

    1) When trying to query an FDDI-STATION for NIF information
the query fails if the fddi-station in question is the
       gateway. Error returned is:

'target device did not respond to gateway request'

Shows for all SIF data are commpleted successfully.

    2) If more that one gateway station is listed for each domain
in the MCC_LAN_AUTOTOPOLOGY.DAT file and the first is not
available, it will not failover to the second.

    3) Using DECelms counter values for 'collision limit exceeded'
are returned for a LANbridge 100/150. Using DECmcc-ELM these
       counters are not available.

DECmcc V1.2, duplicatable in the CSC. Any Ideas/suggestions/reasons
will be welcomed.

This is due to a limitation (or bug) in the bridge firmware.
I doesn't support NIF operations when the gateway and the target
are the same. This is documented in the ELM release notes. It should
    work for a concentrator.

I'm not sure why this is happening. I'll have to try it here.

This bug is fixed in the upcoming V1.3 ELM release.
