Can anyone advise me where our customers obtain MIBs from to support their 3rd party network and comms kit ? Are they in the public domain ? Do the Network and Comms equipment suppliers provide them ? Do we have to write them for DECmcc to support the different equipment? Is there a known list of MIBs. My customer is to-ing and from-ing between DECmcc and a SunNet product and needs some advice as to where he obtains the 3rd party MIBs from. Cheers Milton Stephenson (Sunny Bristol UK)

mcc supplies mibs for most of the major vendor mibs. They are in mcc_common:*mibdef.txt. It covers cisco,vitalink,chipcom,synoptics, 3com etc... The vendors like cisco, offers anonymous ftp for latest mib on internet. The customer support hotline centers for each of these vendors also offer mibs, by tape,floppy etc... The accuracy and contents of the mib is the repsponsibility of each specific vendor, for their products. We dont write them for decmcc, we just compile them and use them from mcc. ammu
4525.2 | our MIBs for foreign NETmanagers? | MUNICH::SCHALLER | Eva Schaller *DSC* 895-6146 | Tue Jun 29 1993 04:06 | 15 |
I have a question from a customer, who wants the MIBs for the DECconcentrator 500, because he wants to manage it from a SUN Networkmanager. I assume, that I could find these descriptions, ether within the new DECmcc package or on GATEkeeper.dec.com. However, I'm not sure if I could give this free to the customer. If somebody could tell me the procedure in these cases and/or even more the detailed location of the concentrator500 MIBs, I would appreciate it very much. thanks in advance eva
