4515.0. "DECMCC Prerequisites" by WR2FOR::RIFKIN_DA (David Rifkin) Tue Feb 09 1993 02:22

The SPD under Software Requirements lists CDD/Plus, VAX Datatrieve and
DECgraph in order to access and print the sample Performance Analyzer
FM reports. Can you explain in more detail why these products are
needed and what the customer loses if he doesn't have these products?
Also, would these products reqwire traditional licenses rather than
    Personnel Use ??

Also, under hardware required, it lists the LANBridge 100/150 in order
to use the LTM Listener. Would the DECbridge 90 also work ??

    Thx,

    Dave Rifkin

These products may be used by the customer to create reports by
querying the Rdb structures created by the VMS exporter FM. Note that
these are *sample* reports that we ship with the kit and not an
exhaustive collection of reports. (The idea being that customers can
look at them and modify them to suit their environments). If the
customer does not want to purchase these tools, then they are free to
use virtually any SQL query & reporting tool that supports Rdb.

If the customer already has these kinds of Rdb reporting tools
somewhere else in their department (i.e. not on the MCC system), then
they could simply use them create reports using the exported Rdb data.

It is worthwhile to note that you can *also* create some whiz-bang
graphical reports from exported MCC data right on your PC, if you have
Pathworks and Excel installed on it.... Microsoft Excel has the hooks
(via Q+E) to query RDB (or other) remote databases and let the user
manipulate the data. I've created some nifty NODE4 traffic graphs on
my PC, (and I don't really understand Excel or Rdb! ;^) )

    I have no idea.

    No.
