Chipcom has asked for input that will help them to understand the need to manage Chipcom hubs from Digitals management stations. You may be aware that they are currently field testing a Ultrix version of the ON DEMAND management tool for DECmcc. They currently have nothing in the works for VMS. In looking at the installed base of Customers that have Chipcom hubs, it seems that the largest majority of them have DECmcc VMS. I would appreciate any input that you can send to me so that we can help Chipcom have an accurate picture of the need for a VMS version. I have sent mail to the network partners but would appreciate any input you may have that can tell us the number of customers that have Chipcom hubs, the type of management stations that they are using or are considering. Let me add my urge for those who need vendor solutions to contact those vendors. Synoptics will be probably dropping support for Digital's management platforms, because they don't see the demand for their product, especially related to the demand from other vendors. The squeeky wheel will get the applications - so sqweek! bill |
