4453.0. "Ultrix and VMS Documentation the Same?" by MAIL::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217) Tue Jan 26 1993 12:19

Is there specific documentation related to DECmcc Ultrix vs. DECmcc VMS?

I'm looking through the "DECmcc Use" documentation on various topics and
many of the functions discussed in this document are relative to VMS only.
Example: 5-38	Customizing Your Session On VMS
5-40 Verifying and Using DECmcc Command Procedures
	 6	Using the Forms Interface

Not having touched the Ultrix version of mcc, I assumed that these types of
functions were available under Ultrix as well (using the comparable Ultrix
tools of course). However, now after reading the documentation, I'm not
sure.

I'm working on the proposal from hell which requires that we provide
documentation to substantiate all of our proposed functionality in response
to the RFP requirements. The appropriate DECmcc solution for this particular
proposal will be on an Ultrix platform. Therefore, I need to make sure that
the DECmcc Ultrix functionality that I discuss in the text of the proposal is
covered in the doc set that we provide with the proposal.

Input from you mcc gurus will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Merlin

    Hi,

I'm the documentation project leader for V1.3. The DECmcc
documentation covers both ULTRIX and VMS platforms. The only
exceptions are the Planning and Installation manuals, along with the
Getting Started Roadmaps. There is a separate manual for each platform.

Using the Forms Interface I beleive is a VMS-only feature of DECmcc.
You might want to look at the Use manual again, or perhaps someone can
    confirm that.

Unfortunately, our manuals are too focused on VMS examples. We are
working that issue, and have addressed it somewhat in the V1.3 release.
We plan to have more ULTRIX examples in future releases.

Forms mode is supported on VMS only.
The command line and Iconic Map interfaces are available on both platforms.
