4435.0. "SNMP registration problem" by SWTHOM::NOBRE (Jocelyne Nobre - CST France) Mon Jan 25 1993 10:04

	My customer use DECmcc 1.2.3 on Ultrix 4.2.
	When he tries to register an SNMP entity , he has the following
	message :

	specified entity definition record does not exist.

*	I remove in /usr/var/mcc the files
	mcc_mir_repo_table.dir
	mcc_mir_repo_table.pag
	then I do an
	mcc> enroll mcc_alarms_fm  to re-create them.
	but I have the same problem.

*	register command for all other entities works fine.

*	mcc> test mcc 0 tcpip_am  is successfull

*	dap>use class snmp
	dap>show           seems fine.

*	I copied mcc_fdictionnary.bpt, mcc_fdictionnary.dat and
	mcc_dispatch_table.dat from an other DECmcc station where there
	is no problem but I am still unable to register my SNMP entities.

	any idea ?
	thanks for help
	regard
	JOcelyne.

    can you register devices of any other type?

	it works fine.

    okay, what kind of SNMP box is it? and have you loaded any needed
    vendor specific MIBs?

    I am not the IP developer so the only other item I can suggest is
    that you define (setenv) MCC_IM_LOG to 7FF00000 and then restart
    mcc (you have to kill the existing FMs and AMs first) and try the
    register command. This will give a complete dump of everything
    that is going on during the register command. Post your results
    here.

	Also, can you check if the following command works correctly :

	MCC> SHOW SNMP internet_name ALL IDENTIFIERS

	/rb
4435.5trace with MCC_IM_LOG definedSWTHOM::NOBREJocelyne Nobre - CST FranceFri Jan 29 1993 11:04115
	re .3

	You can find the trace with MCC_IM_LOG defined to 7FF00000
	Thanks a lot for help.
	regards ,
	JOcelyne
