4397.0. "LB200 to monitor remote LAN???" by ROM01::GALLANA () Sat Jan 16 1993 10:14

Hello,

I need to supply a customer a solution to monitor his remote LAN
with something that act as a LAN TRAFFIC MONITOR .

The customer scenario is the following

The wide area network is TCP/IP based with some CISCO Routers used
to connect the 4 sites.

    In one site we have installed 1 VS3100-76 with DECmcc v1.2
    and we are managing a lot of entities il the whole network

Note also that there a no Digital computer in any remote LAN.

A collegue told me that with DECmcc ELM it is possible to register a
LAN-bridge 200 installed in a remote LAN (connected to the local LAN via
a Router) and to use it as a Lan traffic monitor

I tried to find some documentation on it but I don't found nothing

Does somebody has an anwer?

Many thanks in advance

Francesco

4397.1Some useful hints to use DEBAMROM01::GALLANAMon Jan 18 1993 10:4730
Hello,

I found some interesting notes in the conference NAC::RBMS_LANBRIDGE100

Notes entries are 556, 563, 572, 577, 589, 612

They speak about the
		- LAN-bridge 200 ROM version (at least V1.9)
		- F.C.O. to install (EQ-01647-01) in the DEBAM
		- configuration of the switches (switch 7),
		- SNMP implementation, TRAP ...

there is also an interesting document in

TNPUBS::PUBLIC$DISK:[PUBLIC.SNMP]SNMP_AGENT_CONFIG.PS

It contains informations on how to set-up the SNMP in a DEBAM, DECNIS 500,
DECNIS 600

BUT I don't have a DEBAM with ROM version V1.9 or V2.5 to try them

Did somebody already used a DEBAM to implement these functionalities?

Many thanks

Francesco
