4393.0. "Creating colour X11 pixmap backdrops" by RDGENG::PRATT () Fri Jan 15 1993 10:19

Hi,

I have successfully created an X11 pixmap using Paint, and imported it into my
MCC map without any problems. However I have a couple of questions...

With paint I can only save the image as B+W if I want X11 format, I can only
save colour if I use DDIF, which I can't import into MCC. B+W wouldn't be a
problem, except the white background overwrites my mcc_pml.map_windowBackground
colour.

1) Is there anyway I can get the mcc_pml.map_windowBackground colour to take
priority over the X11 pixmap background colour. I have tried using a resource of
mcc_pml.map_backdropBackground, to see if that would work, but it made no
difference.

2) Failing that, is there another VAXworkstation Graphics Utility available that
I can use to create a colour pixmap file - or is there something available that
will produce a vector format graphic file (available internally - I don't wish
to buy 3rd party CAD s/w).

Thanks

Ian

    Ian,

Yes, you are right. You can only use the X11 bitmap format for the
MCC backdrops. I went looking into the code that creates the graphics
context for the bitmap backdrop and it seems the loading in of the X11
bitmap has overriden the color that was set in the graphics context.
They always seem to turn out black foreground on a white background. I
will keep looking into it for you.

    Hye ,

I tried to scan a map of france, catched it with DECW$PAINT and
transformed it in X11 file format. It worked OK.

The only trouble I have is that the black part of the X11 become
light grey....any idea to make the Black color stay Black...
