4388.0. "Alarm Rule Extraction Error" by ASABET::POWER () Thu Jan 14 1993 15:52

    I'm having a problem using the MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE; file.
    When I run it I get the following error:

    $run MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE;5

    MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES - V1.2.0
      - Generating a Procedure to Rebuild the DECmcc Alarms MIR
      - Output File: mcc_alarms_rules.com
    Working..
    2 Rules processed.

    >>> EXIT - Alarms MIR extraction error ... MCC Status Code = 52875002
    $

    I used to work fine when I had only twenty or so alarm rules. Now I
    have upwords of 500 and it keeps giving me this error. I have DECmcc
    at V1.2.3 and the system is at VMS V5.5. Any Ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dave Power

  I suspect that there is a *large* alarm rule, say one with a lot of
  description and category, etc... The Extract Rule tool probably doesn't
  expect such a large buffer (read: this is a bug) and exiting. Can you
  QAR this problem?

4388.2The fix will be in DECmcc V1.3 SSBTOOK::KWAKWed Jan 27 1993 15:2012

    RE .1 is correct.
    The problem is that the rule had a large characteristic attribute
    partition, and the maximum size of the buffer used in the
    MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULE.EXE was 1024 bytes.

    The buffer size was increased to 2048 to fix the problem, and
    the fix has been tested by Dave Power (in .0).

    The fix will be available in DECmcc V1.3 SSB.
