4367.0. "DECmcc 1.3 FT problems (X11 and DNS)" by DGOSW0::GUESDON () Mon Jan 11 1993 03:50

    Hi,

I've installed DECmcc 1.3 FT, and tried to compile my customer's
specific AM. I've got two problems:

    1. When I try to use the iconic map PM with this new AM, I've got an
"X toolkit error" (although the FCL PM works correctly). Apparently,
the problem comes from the MCC_ICONIC_MAP.UID file.

If I save the dictionary and parse table files, reinstall DECmcc
1.3, and restore the dict and parse table, everything works. But I
think that this is not a good method if I have to do it each time I
       install a new AM...

    2. When I try a "REGISTER" command with this AM, I've got an error
message saying "DNS-E-NONSRESOURCES - insufficient resources at DNS
server" (probably in the DNS$CREATE_INSTANCE routine).

This AM worked in 1.2 as it is now.

Any informations on these two problems ?

    Thanks.

    Michel.

Michel,

Re 1. What X toolkit error do you get. Do you see the map window or are you
unable to do anything? I do not understand why you should need to save
and restore the parse tables and dictionary. Are you running with
Motif. This is essential for Version 1.3.

I use Motif on the workstation.
Due to the problem encountered, I've reinstalled the DECmcc 1.3
kit, in order to reinitialise the whole environmement. But as I
don't want to lose my dictionary, I've saved it before the
reinstallation, and restored it after. And everything's working
        after...
