LAN autotpology utility, is it only for DECbrdiges? or any other vendor bridges are supported. I tried at customer site, with lots of vitalinks, no success. I know mcc 1.2 doesnot have vita am ready yet. Is that the reason ? What about other vendor bridges, like chipcom,synoptics,cisco. I can see one of the problems with these vendors is , all the spanning tree stuff in the mibs is in different places, and different variable names. Will this be a reality, I mean can we cater to at least 75% of the bridge manufacturers... or auto topology will be tough sell in multivendor environment. ammu

We were working on 3rd party bridge support for the STM FM, but
unfortunetly that work is currently not funded due to all of the
cutbacks in LAN engineering. It is possible that this will be picked
up at some point in the future.

We are currently doing network audit, which has all kinds of stps
running with all bridges (chipcom,dec,synoptics,3com,cisco,and vitas)
We are trying to get all stp variables through automation. One of
my colleague is writing , read_rbms, which is working for vitas,
and snmp gets, for others. Then parse the data, scheme and lisp,
and map the tree in visual basic. Let us see how far it goes.
