Is it planned in a next version of the SNMP AM to implement the new security mechanism described in the following RFCs : - 1351 SNMP administrative model - 1352 SNMP security protocols - 1353 Mib for asministration of SNMP parties The way DECmcc manage proxy entities is currently based on the cummunity name (used as the selector on the proxy agent side) but as far as I know this is not defined in any standard document, is it ? The above RFCs pinpoint such a mean by defining partie's profiles. any comment ? Christophe

The next release of the SNMP AM is V1.3, coming out in a few months. It does not support SNMP V2 (which includes the security bits). It is a priority 2 requirement to support it in V1.4, but Phase 0 has not closed yet. It would be nice to have "something", and more in the release after V1.4. The market will probably be visable within a few months, and growing by the fall, and required by this time next year. bill |
