4343.0. "Installation Bug-Check..EMS" by JULIET::SELLECK_AL () Wed Jan 06 1993 18:15

Installation Bug-Check...

  I have been asked to help a customer that is having a problem
with installing DECmcc EMS V2.2 on a VAX-Station 4000-90 SPXg system.
The installation seems to go along fine and then aborts when a Fatal
Bug-Check occurs.

	Fatal Bug Check	Version 5.5-2
	KRNLSTAKNV, Kernel Stack Not Valid

  The system will then reboot picking up with the Install (I've never
seen that happen before?) After the reboot, the customer tells me that he
can start up DECmcc but it will fail when he attempts to run the IVP.

The only warning message received during the install was:

	The following products are not installed or are not running
	the required minimum version to run the Report Package.

		CDD/Plus V4.2 DATATRIEVE V5.0-2 DECgraph V1.5

Is this a known Problem? Is there a patch that fixes this sort of problem?
Any Ideas? Since this is my first experience with DECmcc, any help would
be most appreciated.

By any chance is VMS auditing enabled on the system?

4343.2Yes, it is turned on...JULIET::SELLECK_ALThu Jan 07 1993 12:225
    The customer says Yes, it is turned on...

In that case, this problem may be similar to the one reported in
note 4158. We are still in the process of tracking down the cause.

Meanwhile, if the customer can live without auditing for a while,
you could suggest disabling auditing and re-installing DECmcc.
If they do that, and if it works, please let us know so that
we are sure it is the same problem.
