I have an ICON idicating a Phase V router, which has been partially registered. I select the icon and ask for status information. The Status window opens and complains that a version skew error may have occured. Many...many....many minutes later the window displays "Entity Inaccessible". It appears that it is stuck in this "loop". I say that because it looks as though the window is being updated with the same information every minute or two, but never completes. Placing the cursor on the status window shows that MCC is waiting for something to complete (the little clock). As it turns out, someone is using the address of the Phase V router on a MACintosh running DECnet for MAC.....Phase IV. Don't know if this is significant. Using FCL this node identifier shows up as partially registered for a NODE entity and not register for a NODE4 entity. A bug maybe? T1.3 on VMS V5.5-2 on a VAX 6340. Al

I noticed that I could stop the previously mentioned action by hitting the STOP button on the status display. Question:....why does MCC continue to update the display. Shouldn't it run once, then wait for another START button? Al

please check to see if you have set an operation qualifier for a repeat time interval. This would cause wht you are seeing.

I believe this may have been the case as I was observing statistics on a graph in another window and had set an interval of 2 minutes to avoid lossing data. This was confusing at first but once recognized understandable. Thanks for the pointer. Just in passing.....it would be very helpful if someone published all of the "little things to look out for" when using DECmcc. I suspect this might fill a volume equally as large as the users guide!
