4339.1 | Rule names are undesirable | ONTIME::BUGSBY::COBB | Writing from ALPHA AXP | Wed Jan 06 1993 10:15 | 12 |
| When you do a CREATE/ENABLE from the ALM manager, it creates a rule on
the selected entity, but with an ugly name like:
alm_mgrnode4TESTnode4status_5_JAN_1993_16_03
I would like the option to change the name of the rule that gets
created. Prefixing them with alm_mgr is ok, but put spaces between
the different pieces of information. Can we already pick the name of
the resulting rule?

4339.2 | fixed in next release | GOSTE::CALLANDER | | Wed Jan 06 1993 11:46 | 8 |

this has been fixed, in the next release we will pop up a dialog
box when you hit the create or enable. This will show you the default
name (we no longer prefix with alm_mgr_) and allow you to modify
it, as well as providing you the option of canceling the create.
hope this helps.

4339.3 | Some Accvios ... | SUBURB::SMYTHI | Ian Smyth 830-3869 | Wed Feb 03 1993 12:03 | 63 |

Alarm Manager currently takes the prize for the most accvios/day. Here's
a couple of examples - (from VMS 5.5-2, MCC T1.3.1)
%SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual address=00000010, PC

The above happened when I tried to create a template.
The next happened when I tried to create a rule (based on a template
I had created earlier) for a translan line. It crashed when I tried to expand
the LINE... icon.

4339.4 | fixed, I hope. | GOSTE::CALLANDER | | Thu Feb 04 1993 09:12 | 13 |
| thanks for the input Ian, I believe that these have already been
fixed. As you have seen there were a number of functions that given
the right circumstances could cause accvios on VMS. The ones you
have seen are due to an uninitialized variable that when you do
a create template fore ever creating a rule you accvio. the other
one I believe has to do with the handling of instance less entities,
but I am not familiar with the translan model. If possible I would
like the opportunity to give you a new .exe to try out and see if
it corrects the problems you are seeing. Is this feasible?
thanks

I'd be happy to try out the new .EXE. Tell me
where to find it and I'll copy it over.
Do you know how to clean up the template database after such problems?
I also get a accvio while deleting a template. If I look at the registered
templates, template7 and template8 appear a "No such entity"
ie

4339.6 | thanks, I will send pointer | GOSTE::CALLANDER | | Thu Feb 04 1993 12:08 | 12 |
| Al your database is probably corrupt. The fastest way out of this
is to delete the files and reload the templates we supply (if you
want them) from the mcc_system:alm_mgr_templates.com file we
supply.
I also have a new version of alm_mgr_templates.com with a significant
number of new templates. I will send you a pointer to this new stuff;
give it a whirl and let me know.
thanks
