4280.0. "DECbridge 6xx Problems" by ICS::SHETHAR () Thu Dec 17 1992 15:47

    	Greetings,

I did a quick search of all notes relating to DECbridges (enter-
ed since August) and could not find any reference to what follows.
    	Apologies for repeating known problems:

While recently at a customer site (Martin Marieta, TN) I en-
countered a number of problems while helping them set up for
FDDI managment using DECbridge 610 and DECconcentrator 500s.

    	1. On the DECbridge 610, we could not delete a static address
entry from the forwarding database if a password had been
set on the bridge. If you clear the password, any static
address could be deleted. When a password was set, an "in-
valid password" message was returned and the address left
untouched. Both FCL and IMPM were tried. Anyone seen this?

    	2. On the DECbridge 610, we could only set an IP address using
    	   FCL, not through IMPM.

    	3. On the DECbridge 610, after successfully setting an IP address,
IP Gateway, and IP trap address, we reset the bridge to see
what survived. To our surprise, we could not get the IP trap
address to remain through a reset. Anyone seen this?

    	4. On the DEbridge 620 we had trouble setting an IP trap address
via the SNMP AM. Here is how is went:

    		a. First we set an IP address on the bridge and registered
    	           it as an IP entity.

    		b. Then we extended the MIB using DEC_elan_mibdef.txt.

    		c. Then we tried to set eauthTrapUserTable and/or esys-
TrapAddressTable attributes but received various errors
    		   like "no attribute found".

Anyone experience this? According to the documentation, you
should only try to set IP traps through the SNMP AM (and not
through the Bridge AM). But we had little success.

Any comments on any of these would be appreciated...

    	Alan
