The FDS kit should inter-operate with the T1.3 BMS with no problems.
The ELM AM will also work correctly. However, since the T1.3 iconic
map is motif based, the ELM mapping application will not work (it will
cause a map ACCVIO).
I don't know about the map format.

| There have been changes to the map file format for V1.3
Change to Map File Format for V1.3
-----------------------------------
A change was made to the map file format for V1.3 DECmcc. The
change is apparent in those map files which contain vector
backdrop objects. In V1.2 these objects were stored in the map
file. In V1.3 these objects are stored in a backdrop file, and
a "pointer" to that backdrop file is stored in the map file.
This change facilitated addition of support for specifying
backdrops using the IMPM interface.
V1.2 map files will be read by DECmcc V1.3, but if saved will be
saved in the V1.3 format. The change in format is invisible to
the user, but has one side effect with regard to text objects
in the map. Since the IMPM cannot differentiate between
backdrop-related text and other text added using the alphabet
tool in the Toolbox, all text is assumed to be non-backdrop text.
The result is that text objects will not be saved in the
backdrop file when a V1.2 map is converted to the V1.3 format.
The text objects will remain part of the map file.
The best way to convert map files with vector backdrops is
to open the relevant domain, delete the backdrop by choosing
the Edit->Backdrop->Delete option, delete any backdrop-related
text using the single-line delete tool in the Toolbox,
add a V1.3 vector backdrop and save the map.
An alternative is to edit the map file manually (not recommended)
and change the object_type of all backdrop-related text from
7 to 18. If this is done, when the V1.2 map file is saved in
the IMPM it will be converted to V1.3 format and all the text
objects with object_type 18 will be saved in the backdrop file
(not the map file).
Hope this helps,
Verna

| Greetings,
I just tried putting our map on T1.3 and I've got some troubles. It is a
home-brewed map of the US and Western Europe. It uses Object_type 4 for the
polygons and object_type 2 for the lines within. Object_type 2 seems to be
what the problem is because when I remove them my map comes up ok. Is there
an equivalent to object_type 2 in V1.3?? Is there a better way to define these
lines?? How can all your maps only use obj 4??? Note that this map was
painfully built for our use to an exacting size and dimensions. I'd like to
save it until I at least get something better.
thanks for any info,
brad...
