Hi,
My question may be very simple and stupid, but I need a help.
I manage all the Networks internal to Digital in India. We have
around 8 circuits in India to connect India to EASYnet as well
as to connect various field offices in India. The circuits are
basically 64 KBPS, 7.2 KBPS and PSDN circuits using VAX PSI. All
these circuits are in DECnet Phase IV only.
Now we would like to install DECMcc which can help further in
managing our Networks. We would like to have this installed on
a VMS machine. I have the following questions :
1. Can I install DECMcc in a VAX 6220 and use the same using
Pathworks DECWindows ? Or should I install MCC only on a VAX
Station running DECWindows ?
2. What are the products that need to be installed ?
3. Where can I get the kits, paks and docs ?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
Venkat.

Yes, you should be able to do this just fine. One caveat, though: if
you're planning on using PC DECwindows (Xcursion) to act as a display
for the Iconic Map PM, you may run into some 'interesting' side affects
due to the resolution of PC (VGA) monitors.

For MCC? If you want to manage SNMP objects from a VAX/VMS system
running DECmcc, you'll need to install UCX. If you want to generate
reports using the exporter, you'll need to install the appropriate RDB
report generator tools (e.g. CDD, DataTrieve). Note that these tools
are not *strict* prerequisites for installing MCC. (At least I'm
pretty sure that the installation will work OK without UCX being
installed...)

The little I have seen of mcc is that it is best to look for the
largest config in the SPD... and note that on a small system like a
6200 there will be occasions during the install where the system will
be 100% cpu consumed. If someone could provide you with a 4000/90
VAXstation...
